Limitations of existing exterior walls did not affect out ability to modernize this duplex apartment.  Modern recessed lighting enhances the traditional architecture's new bookcases, window seat and paneling.  Relocation of the kitchen door borrows light from the dining room window.  A traditional butler's pantry and new modern kitchen are united by glass tile.  The modern resin doors to the garden level office close to accommodate visiting grandchildren.
